BUSINESS AS USUAL POST BREXIT
I am happy to report that it is very much business as usual at Staves following the surprise announcement for the UK to leave the EU. There was certainly widespread shock and surprise in the immediate aftermath of the announcement within the property market which did result in a noticeable slow down in interest and general activity.
During the last couple of weeks however we are seeing things return to normal levels, viewings are at a high number, offers are still coming in for properties, and people are still wanting to move. Now that the announcement has been made to leave it seems as though people are just getting on with things and it doesn’t seem to be affecting people’s appetite to buy and sell houses. Therefore, the outlook for the housing market going forward we feel is one that is very positive.
The key facts to remember are that in the UK we have been building too few houses for many years and with people living longer there remains a chronic housing shortage. This coupled with the likely reduction in interest rates should give everybody confidence and belief that bricks and mortar are still the safest and most sought after asset.
CHARITY SUCCESS FOR STAVES ESTATE AGENTS
We are proud to have been involved in a number of fantastic local charity events this year which we have enjoyed tremendously. Below is a list of recent events that we have taken part in during 2016.
Hallowes Golf Day in support of Motor Neurone Disease – A fantastic day was had by all who took part in what is fast becoming the premier charity golf event in the region. A total figure of just over £9500 was raised on the day which will be split between MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) and SITRAN (Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience) A special mention to Matthew Rowland who did a tremendous job as always in putting on such a fantastic event.
Mundella School Summer Fayre – Another fantastic turnout which was helped by the great weather on the day. Over £2500 was raised which will go towards investment in to new equipment for the school. Thanks to everyone who agreed to have one of our charity boards in their garden. Your support is much appreciated.
Charnock School Summer Fayre – Again a great day and a great turnout. The final figure raised is still being counted but feedback is that it was one of the most successful summer fayres to date. Again thanks to everyone who agreed to have one of our charity boards in their garden. Your support is much appreciated.
St Thomas of Canterbury School Summer Fayre – A great fun day was had by all. The school did a great job in putting on a number of events and activities on the day which helped to raise a grand total of £3178.

Friday 20th June saw 136 golfers competing in the inaugural Hallowes Golf Club Motor Neurone Disease Am-Am golf day. 34 teams of golfers competed on the day, which saw some of the best weather of the year. Besides the chance of winning excellent golfing prizes, there was an opportunity to win a brand new BMW car, for a hole in one on the 4th. Several golfers came close, but unfortunately nobody managed an ace! Throughout the day, raffle tickets were sold and the very well stocked tombola was a great success. Free drinks on the course were also most welcome! The day was sponsored by Sytners of Sheffield, Staves Estate Agents of Dronfield and BRM Solicitors of Chesterfield. After the prize presentation in the evening, there was a charity auction of sporting memorabilia which was generously donated by stars of the golfing world. Lots included a signed Tiger Woods poster, an Aston Martin golf bag and a Luke Donald signed golf shirt. Matt Rowland, a long time member of Hallowes was diagnosed with MND last summer. His friends decided to organise the golf day in support of the MND association, resulting in £7870 being raised on the day, with additional donations resulting in a grand total of £9,000. Half of the money raised will go towards national MND research and half towards supporting local families living with the disease.
